* linux: Add MAP_DROPPABLE from Linux 6.11Adhemerval Zanella17 hours1-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | This request the page to be never written out to swap, it will be zeroed under memory pressure (so kernel can just drop the page), it is inherited by fork, it is not counted against @code{mlock} budget, and if there is no enough memory to service a page faults there is no fatal error (so not signal is sent). Tested with build-many-glibcs.py. Reviewed-by: H.J. Lu <hjl.tools@gmail.com>
* linux: add definitions for hugetlb page size encodingsCarlos Llamas2024-06-181-1/+20
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | A desired hugetlb page size can be encoded in the flags parameter of system calls such as mmap() and shmget(). The Linux UAPI headers have included explicit definitions for these encodings since v4.14. This patch adds these definitions that are used along with MAP_HUGETLB and SHM_HUGETLB flags as specified in the corresponding man pages. This relieves programs from having to duplicate and/or compute the encodings manually. Additionally, the filter on these definitions in tst-mman-consts.py is removed, as suggested by Florian. I then ran this tests successfully, confirming the alignment with the kernel headers. PASS: misc/tst-mman-consts original exit status 0 Signed-off-by: Carlos Llamas <cmllamas@google.com> Tested-by: Florian Weimer <fweimer@redhat.com> Reviewed-by: Florian Weimer <fweimer@redhat.com>

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The MREMAP_* flags are identical between bits/mman-linux.h and the hppa bits/mman.h; thus, they should be in bits/mman-shared.h instead to avoid unnecessary duplication. * Linux: Add memfd_create system call wrapperFlorian Weimer2017-11-231-0/+16
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | The system call is somewhat obscure because it is closely related to file descriptor sealing. However, it is also the recommended way to create alias mappings, which is why it has more general use. No emulation is provided. Except for the name of the /proc/self/fd links, it would be possible to implement an approximation using O_TMPFILE and tmpfs, but this does not appear to be worth the added complexity. * Add MADV_WIPEONFORK, MADV_KEEPONFORK from Linux 4.14.Joseph Myers2017-11-151-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch adds the new MADV_WIPEONFORK and MADV_KEEPONFORK from Linux 4.14 to bits/mman-linux.h (and bits/mman.h in the hppa case). Note there are further hppa MADV_* changes in 4.14; I plan a separate glibc patch for those. Tested for x86_64. * sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/bits/mman-linux.h [__USE_MISC] (MADV_WIPEONFORK): New macro. * Move <bits/mman-linux.h> to the Linux sysdeps directoryFlorian Weimer2017-11-071-0/+111

* Move bits/mman-linux.h out of sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/.Roland McGrath2014-03-181-108/+0

* Combine __USE_BSD and __USE_SVID into __USE_MISC.Joseph Myers2014-02-121-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch cleans up following the obsoletion of _BSD_SOURCE and _SVID_SOURCE by combining __USE_BSD and __USE_SVID into __USE_MISC. The only non-mechanical part of this patch is the changes to features.h; everything else is simple substitution of __USE_MISC for the old macros. Thus, this patch leaves obviously redundant conditionals such as "defined __USE_MISC || defined __USE_MISC", and does not update #endif comments where they referred to BSD or SVID in words instead of the literal macro name. This is intended to facilitate patch review by separating the less mechanical changes from these purely mechanical changes into a separate patch. (I do intend to integrate all the changes from <https://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2013-12/msg00226.html>, which I believe includes all the trailing comment updates, in subsequent patches.)
