* system: Add "--" after "-c" for sh (BZ #28519)Joe Simmons-Talbott2023-03-281-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | Prevent sh from interpreting a user string as shell options if it starts with '-' or '+'. Since the version of /bin/sh used for testing system() is different from the full-fledged system /bin/sh add support to it for handling "--" after "-c". Add a testcase to ensure the expected behavior. Signed-off-by: Joe Simmons-Talbott <josimmon@redhat.com> Reviewed-by: Adhemerval Zanella <adhemerval.zanella@linaro.org>
* posix: Fix system blocks SIGCHLD erroneously [BZ #30163]Adam Yi2023-03-071-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Fix bug that SIGCHLD is erroneously blocked forever in the following scenario: 1. Thread A calls system but hasn't returned yet 2. Thread B calls another system but returns SIGCHLD would be blocked forever in thread B after its system() returns, even after the system() in thread A returns. Although POSIX does not require, glibc system implementation aims to be thread and cancellation safe. This bug was introduced in 5fb7fc96350575c9adb1316833e48ca11553be49 when we moved reverting signal mask to happen when the last concurrently running system returns, despite that signal mask is per thread. This commit reverts this logic and adds a test. Signed-off-by: Adam Yi <ayi@janestreet.com> Reviewed-by: Adhemerval Zanella <adhemerval.zanella@linaro.org>

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | I used these shell commands: ../glibc/scripts/update-copyrights $PWD/../gnulib/build-aux/update-copyright (cd ../glibc && git commit -am"[this commit message]") and then ignored the output, which consisted lines saying "FOO: warning: copyright statement not found" for each of 7061 files FOO. I then removed trailing white space from math/tgmath.h, support/tst-support-open-dev-null-range.c, and sysdeps/x86_64/multiarch/strlen-vec.S, to work around the following obscure pre-commit check failure diagnostics from Savannah. * posix: Fix return value of system if shell can not be executed [BZ #27053]Adhemerval Zanella2021-01-111-0/+4
| | | | | | | | POSIX states that system returned code for failure to execute the shell shall be as if the shell had terminated using _exit(127). This behaviour was removed with 5fb7fc96350575. Checked on x86_64-linux-gnu.

* posix: Use posix_spawn on systemAdhemerval Zanella2018-11-301-89/+100
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch uses posix_spawn on system implementation. On Linux this has the advantage of much lower memory consumption (usually 32 Kb minimum for the mmap stack area). Although POSIX does not require, glibc system implementation aims to be thread and cancellation safe. The cancellation code is moved to generic implementation and enabled iff SIGCANCEL is defined (similar on how the cancellation handler is enabled on nptl-init.c). Checked on x86_64-linux-gnu, i686-linux-gnu, aarch64-linux-gnu, arm-linux-gnueabihf, and powerpc64le-linux-gnu. * sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/spawni.c (__spawni_child): Use __sigismember instead of sigismember. * sysdeps/posix/system.c [SIGCANCEL] (cancel_handler_args, cancel_handler): New definitions. * Move bits/libc-lock.h and bits/libc-lockP.h out of bits/ (bug 14912).Joseph Myers2015-09-081-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | It was noted in <https://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2012-09/msg00305.html> that the bits/*.h naming scheme should only be used for installed headers. This patch renames bits/libc-lock.h to plain libc-lock.h and bits/libc-lockP.h to plain libc-lockP.h to follow that convention. Note that I don't know where libc-lockP.h comes from for Hurd (the Hurd libc-lock.h includes libc-lockP.h, but the only libc-lockP.h in the glibc source tree is for NPTL) - some unmerged patch? - but I updated the #include in the Hurd libc-lock.h anyway.
