| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The elision interfaces are closely aligned between the targets that implement them, so declare them in the generic <lowlevellock.h> file. Empty .c stubs are provided, so that fewer makefile updates under sysdeps are needed. Also simplify initialization via __libc_early_init. The symbols __lll_clocklock_elision, __lll_lock_elision, __lll_trylock_elision, __lll_unlock_elision, __pthread_force_elision move into libc. For the time being, non-hidden references are used from libpthread to access them, but once that part of libpthread is moved into libc, hidden symbols will be used again. (Hidden references seem desirable to reduce the likelihood of transactions aborts.)

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch moves the vDSO setup from libc to loader code, just after the vDSO link_map setup. For static case the initialization is moved to _dl_non_dynamic_init instead. Instead of using the mangled pointer, the vDSO data is set as attribute_relro (on _rtld_global_ro for shared or _dl_vdso_* for static). It is read-only even with partial relro. It fixes BZ#24967 now that the vDSO pointer is setup earlier than malloc interposition is called. Also, vDSO calls should not be a problem for static dlopen as indicated by BZ#20802. The vDSO pointer would be zero-initialized and the syscall will be issued instead. Checked on x86_64-linux-gnu, i686-linux-gnu, aarch64-linux-gnu, arm-linux-gnueabihf, powerpc64le-linux-gnu, powerpc64-linux-gnu, powerpc-linux-gnu, s390x-linux-gnu, sparc64-linux-gnu, and sparcv9-linux-gnu. Since elision now depends on tunables, we should always *compile* with elision enabled, and leave the code disabled, but available for runtime selection. This gives us *much* better compile-time testing of the existing code to avoid bit-rot[2]. Tested on ppc, ppc64, ppc64le, s390x and x86_64. [1] This part of the patch was initially proposed by Paul Murphy but was "staled" because the framework have changed since the patch was originally proposed: https://patchwork.sourceware.org/patch/10342/ [2] This part of the patch was inititally proposed as a RFC by Carlos O'Donnell. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch removes PTRACE_GETREGS, PTRACE_SETREGS, PTRACE_GETFPREGS and PTRACE_SETFPREGS as these requests does not exist on s390 kernel. But the kernel has support for PTRACE_SINGLEBLOCK, PTRACE_SECCOMP_GET_FILTER, PTRACE_PEEKUSR_AREA, PTRACE_POKEUSR_AREA, PTRACE_GET_LAST_BREAK, PTRACE_ENABLE_TE, PTRACE_DISABLE_TE and PTRACE_TE_ABORT_RAND. Thus those are defined now. The current kernel s390 specific ptrace.h file also defines PTRACE_PEEKTEXT_AREA, PTRACE_PEEKDATA_AREA, PTRACE_POKETEXT_AREA, PTRACE_POKEDATA_AREA, PTRACE_PEEK_SYSTEM_CALL, PTRACE_POKE_SYSTEM_CALL and PTRACE_PROT, but those requests are not supported. Thus those defines are skipped in glibc ptrace.h. There were old includes of ptrace.h in sysdeps/s390/fpu/fesetenv.c. The ptrace feature isn't used there anymore, thus I removed the includes. Before this patch, <glibc>/sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/s390/sys/ptrace.h uses ptrace-request 12 for PTRACE_GETREGS, but <kernel>/include/uapi/linux/ptrace.h uses 12 for PTRACE_SINGLEBLOCK. The s390 kernel has never had support for PTRACE_GETREGS! Thus glibc ptrace.h is adjusted to match kernel ptrace.h. The new s390 specific test ensures, that PTRACE_SINGLEBLOCK defined in glibc works as expected. If the kernel would interpret it as PTRACE_GETREGS, then the testcase will not make any progress and will time out. * S390: Use own tbegin macro instead of __builtin_tbegin.Stefan Liebler2016-12-201-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch defines __libc_tbegin, __libc_tend, __libc_tabort and __libc_tx_nesting_depth in htm.h which replaces the direct usage of equivalent gcc builtins. We have to use an own inline assembly instead of __builtin_tbegin, as tbegin has to filter program interruptions which can't be done with the builtin. Before this change, e.g. a segmentation fault within a transaction, leads to a coredump where the instruction pointer points behind the tbegin instruction instead of real failing one. Now the transaction aborts and the code should be reexecuted by the fallback path without transactions. The segmentation fault will produce a coredump with the real failing instruction. The fpc is not saved before starting the transaction. If e.g. the rounging mode is changed and the transaction is aborting afterwards, the builtin will not restore the fpc. This is now done with the __libc_tbegin macro. Now the call saved fprs have to be saved / restored in the __libc_tbegin macro. Using the gcc builtin had forced the saving / restoring of fprs at begin / end of e.g. __lll_lock_elision function. The new macro saves these fprs before tbegin instruction and only restores them on a transaction abort. Restoring is not needed on a successfully started transaction. The used inline assembly does not clobber the fprs / vrs! Clobbering the latter ones would force the compiler to save / restore the call saved fprs as those overlap with the vrs, but they only need to be restored if the transaction fails. Thus the user of the tbegin macros has to compile the file / function with -msoft-float. It prevents gcc from using fprs / vrs. So that gnu/lib-names.h supports multiple ABIs, it is changed to be generated on the same basis as gnu/stubs.h: when there are multiple ABIs, gnu/lib-names.h is a wrapper header (the same header installed whatever ABI is being built) and separate headers such as gnu/lib-names-64.h contain the substantive contents (only one such header being installed by any glibc build). The rules for building gnu/lib-names.h were moved from Makeconfig to Makerules because they need to come after sysdeps makefiles are included (now that "ifndef abi-variants" is a toplevel conditional on the rules rather than $(abi-variants) being evaluated later inside the commands for a rule). Tested for x86_64 and x86 that the installed shared libraries are unchanged by this patch, and examined the installed gnu/lib-names*.h headers by hand. Also tested the case of a single ABI (where there is just a single header installed, again like stubs.h) by hacking abi-variants to empty for x86_64.
