* Define in_int32_t_range to check if the 64 bit time_t syscall should be usedYunQiang Su2022-11-171-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Currently glibc uses in_time_t_range to detects time_t overflow, and if it occurs fallbacks to 64 bit syscall version. The function name is confusing because internally time_t might be either 32 bits or 64 bits (depending on __TIMESIZE). This patch refactors the in_time_t_range by replacing it with in_int32_t_range for the case to check if the 64 bit time_t syscall should be used. The in_time_t range is used to detect overflow of the syscall return value. Reviewed-by: Adhemerval Zanella <adhemerval.zanella@linaro.org>

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | I used these shell commands: ../glibc/scripts/update-copyrights $PWD/../gnulib/build-aux/update-copyright (cd ../glibc && git commit -am"[this commit message]") and then ignored the output, which consisted lines saying "FOO: warning: copyright statement not found" for each of 7061 files FOO. I then removed trailing white space from math/tgmath.h, support/tst-support-open-dev-null-range.c, and sysdeps/x86_64/multiarch/strlen-vec.S, to work around the following obscure pre-commit check failure diagnostics from Savannah. I don't know why I run into these diagnostics whereas others evidently do not. remote: *** 912-#endif remote: *** 913: remote: *** 914- remote: *** error: lines with trailing whitespace found ... remote: *** error: sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/statx_cp.c: trailing lines
* Remove "Contributed by" linesSiddhesh Poyarekar2021-09-031-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | We stopped adding "Contributed by" or similar lines in sources in 2012 in favour of git logs and keeping the Contributors section of the glibc manual up to date. Removing these lines makes the license header a bit more consistent across files and also removes the possibility of error in attribution when license blocks or files are copied across since the contributed-by lines don't actually reflect reality in those cases. Move all "Contributed by" and similar lines (Written by, Test by, etc.) into a new file CONTRIBUTED-BY to retain record of these contributions. These contributors are also mentioned in manual/contrib.texi, so we just maintain this additional record as a courtesy to the earlier developers. The following scripts were used to filter a list of files to edit in place and to clean up the CONTRIBUTED-BY file respectively. These were not added to the glibc sources because they're not expected to be of any use in future given that this is a one time task: https://gist.github.com/siddhesh/b5ecac94eabfd72ed2916d6d8157e7dc https://gist.github.com/siddhesh/15ea1f5e435ace9774f485030695ee02 Reviewed-by: Carlos O'Donell <carlos@redhat.com>
* linux: Only use 64-bit syscall if required for pselectAdhemerval Zanella2021-06-221-19/+28
| | | | | | | | | | | | | For !__ASSUME_TIME64_SYSCALLS there is no need to issue a 64-bit syscall if the provided timeout fits in a 32-bit one. The 64-bit usage should be rare since the timeout is a relative one. This also avoids the need to use supports_time64() (which breaks the usage case of live migration like CRIU or similar). Checked on i686-linux-gnu on a 4.15 kernel and on a 5.11 kernel (with and without --enable-kernel=5.1) and on x86_64-linux-gnu. Reviewed-by: Lukasz Majewski <lukma@denx.de>

* pselect.c: Pass a pointer to SYSCALL_CANCEL [BZ #26606]H.J. Lu2020-09-151-3/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit a92f4e6299fe0e3cb6f77e79de00817aece501ce Author: Adhemerval Zanella <adhemerval.zanella@linaro.org> Date: Mon Jul 6 13:27:12 2020 -0300 linux: Add time64 pselect support changed pselect.c to r = SYSCALL_CANCEL (pselect6_time64, nfds, readfds, writefds, exceptfds, timeout, ((__syscall_ulong_t[]){ (uintptr_t) sigmask, __NSIG_BYTES })); which doesn't work with x32's ARGIFY and data passed to syscall isn't initialized with sigmask and __NSIG_BYTES. Change to __syscall_ulong_t data[2] = { (uintptr_t) sigmask, __NSIG_BYTES }; r = SYSCALL_CANCEL (pselect6_time64, nfds, readfds, writefds, exceptfds, timeout, data); fixes [BZ #26606].
* linux: Add time64 pselect supportAdhemerval Zanella2020-09-111-12/+41
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The syscall __NR_pselect6_time64 (32-bit) or __NR_pselect6 (64-bit) is used as default. For architectures with __ASSUME_TIME64_SYSCALLS the 32-bit fallback uses __NR_pselec6. To accomodate microblaze missing pselect6 support on kernel older than 3.15 the fallback is moved to its own function to the microblaze specific implementation can override it. Checked on x86_64-linux-gnu and i686-linux-gnu (on 5.4 and on 4.15 kernel). Reviewed-by: Alistair Francis <alistair.francis@wdc.com>

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | The __NSIG_WORDS value is based on minimum number of words to hold the maximum number of signals supported by the architecture. This patch also adds __NSIG_BYTES, which is the number of bytes required to represent the supported number of signals. It is used in syscalls which takes a sigset_t. * misc: Set generic pselect as ENOSYSAdhemerval Zanella2019-11-221-33/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The generic pselect implementation has the very specific race condition that motived the creation of the pselect syscall (no atomicity in signal mask set/reset). Using it as generic implementation is counterproductive Also currently only microblaze uses it as fallback when used on kernel prior 3.15. This patch moves the generic implementation to a microblaze specific one, sets the generic internal as a ENOSYS, and cleanups the Linux generic implementation. The microblaze implementation mimics the previous Linux generic one, where it either uses pselect6 directly if __ASSUME_PSELECT or a first try pselect6 then the fallback otherwise. Checked on x86_64-linux-gnu and microblaze-linux-gnu.
