* nptl: Rename lll_timedlock to lll_clocklock and add clockid parameterMike Crowe2019-07-121-4/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Rename lll_timedlock to lll_clocklock and add clockid parameter to indicate the clock that the abstime parameter should be measured against in preparation for adding pthread_mutex_clocklock. The name change mirrors the naming for the exposed pthread functions: timed => absolute timeout measured against CLOCK_REALTIME (or clock specified by attribute in the case of pthread_cond_timedwait.) clock => absolute timeout measured against clock specified in preceding parameter. * sysdeps/nptl/lowlevellock.h (lll_clocklock): Rename from lll_timedlock and add clockid parameter. (__lll_clocklock): Rename from __lll_timedlock and add clockid parameter. * sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/sparc/lowlevellock.h (lll_clocklock): Likewise. * nptl/lll_timedlock_wait.c (__lll_clocklock_wait): Rename from __lll_timedlock_wait and add clockid parameter. Use __clock_gettime rather than __gettimeofday so that clockid can be used. This means that conversion from struct timeval is no longer required. * sysdeps/sparc/sparc32/lowlevellock.c (lll_clocklock_wait): Likewise. * sysdeps/sparc/sparc32/lll_timedlock_wait.c: Update comment to refer to __lll_clocklock_wait rather than __lll_timedlock_wait. * nptl/pthread_mutex_timedlock.c (lll_clocklock_elision): Rename from lll_timedlock_elision, add clockid parameter and use meaningful names for other parameters. (__pthread_mutex_timedlock): Pass CLOCK_REALTIME where necessary to lll_clocklock and lll_clocklock_elision. * sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/powerpc/lowlevellock.h (lll_clocklock_elision): Rename from lll_timedlock_elision and add clockid parameter. (__lll_clocklock_elision): Rename from __lll_timedlock_elision and add clockid parameter. * sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/s390/lowlevellock.h: Likewise. * sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/x86/lowlevellock.h: Likewise. * sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/powerpc/elision-timed.c (__lll_lock_elision): Call __lll_clocklock_elision rather than __lll_timedlock_elision. (EXTRAARG): Add clockid parameter. (LLL_LOCK): Likewise. * sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/s390/elision-timed.c: Likewise. * sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/x86/elision-timed.c: Likewise. * powerpc: Optimize lock elision for pthread_mutex_tPaul Murphy2015-10-151-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | With TLE enabled, the adapt count variable update incurs an 8% overhead before entering the critical section of an elided mutex. Instead, if it is done right after leaving the critical section, this serialization can be avoided. This alters the existing behavior of __lll_trylock_elision as it will only decrement the adapt_count if it successfully acquires the lock. * sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/powerpc/elision-lock.c (__lll_lock_elision): Remove adapt_count decrement... * sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/powerpc/elision-trylock.c (__lll_trylock_elision): Likewise. * sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/powerpc/elision-unlock.c (__lll_unlock_elision): ... to here. And utilize new adapt_count parameter. * sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/powerpc/lowlevellock.h (__lll_unlock_elision): Update to include adapt_count parameter. (lll_unlock_elision): Pass pointer to adapt_count variable.
* nptl: Add adapt_count parameter to lll_unlock_elisionPaul Murphy2015-10-151-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Adding this parameter will give architectures more freedom in how they choose to update this variable. This change has no effect on architectures which choose not to use it. * nptl/pthread_mutex_unlock.c(lll_unlock_elision): Add elision adapt_count parameter to list of arguments. * sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/powerpc/lowlevellock.h (lll_unlock_elision): Update with new parameter list * sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/s390/lowlevellock.h (lll_unlock_elision): Likewise * sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/x86_64/lowlevellock.h (lll_unlock_elision): Likewise
* powerpc: Fix Copyright dates and CL entryAdhemerval Zanella2015-01-121-1/+1
| | | | | This patch fixes the copyright dates from files created by commit 8d2c0a5, 4b45943, and 56cf276.
* powerpc: Add the lock elision using HTMAdhemerval Zanella2015-01-121-0/+48
| | | | | | | | | | | | This patch adds support for lock elision using ISA 2.07 hardware transactional memory instructions for pthread_mutex primitives. Similar to s390 version, the for elision logic defined in 'force-elision.h' is only enabled if ENABLE_LOCK_ELISION is defined. Also, the lock elision code should be able to be built even with a compiler that does not provide HTM support with builtins. However I have noted the performance is sub-optimal due scheduling pressures.
* powerpc: remove linux lowlevellock.hAdhemerval Zanella2014-10-061-342/+0
| | | | | This patch remove the powerpc specific lowlevellock.h and adjust some implementation that rely on __lll_[rel/acq]_instr defines.
* PowerPC: Fix build due missing lll_robust_trylockAdhemerval Zanella2014-07-101-2/+17
| | | | | | | Commit 887865f remove the lll_robust_trylock definition on all architectures, however for powerpc both __lll_trylock and __lll_cond_trylock were based on lll_robust_trylock definition. This patch restore it with a different name.
