* y2038: Add support for 64-bit time on legacy ABIsAdhemerval Zanella2021-06-151-0/+97
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | A new build flag, _TIME_BITS, enables the usage of the newer 64-bit time symbols for legacy ABI (where 32-bit time_t is default). The 64 bit time support is only enabled if LFS (_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64) is also used. Different than LFS support, the y2038 symbols are added only for the required ABIs (armhf, csky, hppa, i386, m68k, microblaze, mips32, mips64-n32, nios2, powerpc32, sparc32, s390-32, and sh). The ABIs with 64-bit time support are unchanged, both for symbol and types redirection. On Linux the full 64-bit time support requires a minimum of kernel version v5.1. Otherwise, the 32-bit fallbacks are used and might results in error with overflow return code (EOVERFLOW). The i686-gnu does not yet support 64-bit time. This patch exports following rediretions to support 64-bit time: * libc: adjtime adjtimex clock_adjtime clock_getres clock_gettime clock_nanosleep clock_settime cnd_timedwait ctime ctime_r difftime fstat fstatat futimens futimes futimesat getitimer getrusage gettimeofday gmtime gmtime_r localtime localtime_r lstat_time lutimes mktime msgctl mtx_timedlock nanosleep nanosleep ntp_gettime ntp_gettimex ppoll pselec pselect pthread_clockjoin_np pthread_cond_clockwait pthread_cond_timedwait pthread_mutex_clocklock pthread_mutex_timedlock pthread_rwlock_clockrdlock pthread_rwlock_clockwrlock pthread_rwlock_timedrdlock pthread_rwlock_timedwrlock pthread_timedjoin_np recvmmsg sched_rr_get_interval select sem_clockwait semctl semtimedop sem_timedwait setitimer settimeofday shmctl sigtimedwait stat thrd_sleep time timegm timerfd_gettime timerfd_settime timespec_get utime utimensat utimes utimes wait3 wait4 * librt: aio_suspend mq_timedreceive mq_timedsend timer_gettime timer_settime * libanl: gai_suspend Reviewed-by: Lukasz Majewski <lukma@denx.de> Reviewed-by: Carlos O'Donell <carlos@redhat.com> Tested-by: Carlos O'Donell <carlos@redhat.com>
* Add missing symbols to Version filesFlorian Weimer2021-06-021-1/+18
| | | | | | | | | Some symbols have explicit versioned_symbol or compat_symbol markers in the sources, but no corresponding entry in the Versions files. This presently works because the local: * directive is only applied to the base version. Reviewed-by: Adhemerval Zanella <adhemerval.zanella@linaro.org>

* Linux: Remove rseq supportFlorian Weimer2020-07-161-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The kernel ABI is not finalized, and there are now various proposals to change the size of struct rseq, which would make the glibc ABI dependent on the version of the kernels used for building glibc. This is of course not acceptable. This reverts commit 48699da1c468543ade14777819bd1b4d652709de ("elf: Support at least 32-byte alignment in static dlopen"), commit 8f4632deb3545b2949cec5454afc3cb21a0024ea ("Linux: rseq registration tests"), commit 6e29cb3f61ff5432c78a1c84b0d9b123a350ab36 ("Linux: Use rseq in sched_getcpu if available"), and commit 0c76fc3c2b346dc5401dc055d97d4279632b0fb3 ("Linux: Perform rseq registration at C startup and thread creation"), resolving the conflicts introduced by the ARC port and the TLS static surplus changes. * signal: Move sys_errlist to a compat symbolAdhemerval Zanella2020-07-071-10/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The symbol is deprecated by strerror since its usage imposes some issues such as copy relocations. Its internal name is also changed to _sys_errlist_internal to avoid static linking usage. The compat code is also refactored by removing the over enginered errlist-compat.c generation from manual entried and extra comment token in linker script file. It disantangle the code generation from manual and simplify both Linux and Hurd compat code. The definitions from errlist.c are moved to errlist.h and a new test is added to avoid a new errno entry without an associated one in manual. Checked on x86_64-linux-gnu and i686-linux-gnu. I also run a check-abi on all affected platforms. Tested-by: Carlos O'Donell <carlos@redhat.com> Reviewed-by: Carlos O'Donell <carlos@redhat.com>
* Linux: Perform rseq registration at C startup and thread creationMathieu Desnoyers2020-07-061-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Register rseq TLS for each thread (including main), and unregister for each thread (excluding main). "rseq" stands for Restartable Sequences. See the rseq(2) man page proposed here: https://lkml.org/lkml/2018/9/19/647 Those are based on glibc master branch commit 3ee1e0ec5c. The rseq system call was merged into Linux 4.18. The TLS_STATIC_SURPLUS define is increased to leave additional room for dlopen'd initial-exec TLS, which keeps elf/tst-auditmany working. The increase (76 bytes) is larger than 32 bytes because it has not been increased in quite a while. The cost in terms of additional TLS storage is quite significant, but it will also obscure some initial-exec-related dlopen failures.
* Linux: Remove <sys/sysctl.h> and the sysctl functionFlorian Weimer2020-04-151-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Linux 5.5 remove the system call in commit 61a47c1ad3a4dc6882f01ebdc88138ac62d0df03 ("Linux: Remove <sys/sysctl.h>"). Therefore, the compat function is just a stub that sets ENOSYS. Due to SHLIB_COMPAT, new ports will not add the sysctl function anymore automatically. x32 already lacks the sysctl function, so an empty sysctl.c file is used to suppress it. Otherwise, a new compat symbol would be added. Reviewed-by: Adhemerval Zanella <adhemerval.zanella@linaro.org>

* Linux: Implement interfaces for memory protection keysFlorian Weimer2017-12-051-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This adds system call wrappers for pkey_alloc, pkey_free, pkey_mprotect, and x86-64 implementations of pkey_get and pkey_set, which abstract over the PKRU CPU register and hide the actual number of memory protection keys supported by the CPU. pkey_mprotect with a -1 key is implemented using mprotect, so it will work even if the kernel does not support the pkey_mprotect system call. The system call wrapers use unsigned int instead of unsigned long for parameters, so that no special treatment for x32 is needed. The flags argument is currently unused, and the access rights bit mask is limited to two bits by the current PKRU register layout anyway. * Linux: Add memfd_create system call wrapperFlorian Weimer2017-11-231-0/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | The system call is somewhat obscure because it is closely related to file descriptor sealing. However, it is also the recommended way to create alias mappings, which is why it has more general use. No emulation is provided. Except for the name of the /proc/self/fd links, it would be possible to implement an approximation using O_TMPFILE and tmpfs, but this does not appear to be worth the added complexity. * Terminate process on invalid netlink response from kernel [BZ #12926]Florian Weimer2015-11-091-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The recvmsg system calls for netlink sockets have been particularly prone to picking up unrelated data after a file descriptor race (where the descriptor is closed and reopened concurrently in a multi-threaded process, as the result of a file descriptor management issue elsewhere). This commit adds additional error checking and aborts the process if a datagram of unexpected length (without the netlink header) is received, or an error code which cannot happen due to the way the netlink socket is used. [BZ #12926] Terminate process on invalid netlink response. * sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/netlinkaccess.h (__netlink_assert_response): Declare. * sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/netlink_assert_response.c: New file. * sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/Makefile [$(subdir) == inet] (sysdep_routines): Add netlink_assert_response. * sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/check_native.c (__check_native): Call __netlink_assert_response. * sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/check_pf.c (make_request): Likewise. * sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/ifaddrs.c (__netlink_request): Likewise. * sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/Versions (GLIBC_PRIVATE): Add __netlink_assert_response.

* Update ntp_gettime for Linux.Ulrich Drepper2009-11-221-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | The ntp_gettime implementation of NTP exports the tai field the kernel now produces. This requires an ABI change since the ntptimeval structure changed. Upstream kept the same name, there is nothing to do. This patch changes the ntptimeval structure but keeps the old ntp_gettime definition. A new ntp_gettimex function which is transparently invoked through the old name is introduced. This has the advantage that even object files can remain compatible. This wouldn't be the case if symbol versioning would be used to overload the name ntp_gettime.
