* elf: Remove ELF_RTYPE_CLASS_EXTERN_PROTECTED_DATAFangrui Song2022-06-151-21/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | If an executable has copy relocations for extern protected data, that can only work if the library containing the definition is built with assumptions (a) the compiler emits GOT-generating relocations (b) the linker produces R_*_GLOB_DAT instead of R_*_RELATIVE. Otherwise the library uses its own definition directly and the executable accesses a stale copy. Note: the GOT relocations defeat the purpose of protected visibility as an optimization, but allow rtld to make the executable and library use the same copy when copy relocations are present, but it turns out this never worked perfectly. ELF_RTYPE_CLASS_EXTERN_PROTECTED_DATA has strange semantics when both a.so and b.so define protected var and the executable copy relocates var: b.so accesses its own copy even with GLOB_DAT. The behavior change is from commit 62da1e3b00b51383ffa7efc89d8addda0502e107 (x86) and then copied to nios2 (ae5eae7cfc9c4a8297ff82ec6b794faca1976ecc) and arc (0e7d930c4c11de896fe807f67fa1eb756c9c1e05). Without ELF_RTYPE_CLASS_EXTERN_PROTECTED_DATA, b.so accesses the copy relocated data like a.so. There is now a warning for copy relocation on protected symbol since commit 7374c02b683b7110b853a32496a619410364d70b. It's extremely unlikely anyone relies on the ELF_RTYPE_CLASS_EXTERN_PROTECTED_DATA behavior, so let's remove it: this removes a check in the symbol lookup code.
* nios2: Remove _dl_skip_args usage (BZ# 29187)Adhemerval Zanella2022-05-301-40/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | Since ad43cac44a the generic code already shuffles the argv/envp/auxv on the stack to remove the ld.so own arguments and thus _dl_skip_args is always 0. So there is no need to adjust the argc or argv. Checked with qemu-user that arguments are correctly passed on both constructors and main program. Reviewed-by: Carlos O'Donell <carlos@redhat.com>

* elf: Replace PI_STATIC_AND_HIDDEN with opposite HIDDEN_VAR_NEEDS_DYNAMIC_RELOCFangrui Song2022-04-262-0/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | PI_STATIC_AND_HIDDEN indicates whether accesses to internal linkage variables and hidden visibility variables in a shared object (ld.so) need dynamic relocations (usually R_*_RELATIVE). PI (position independent) in the macro name is a misnomer: a code sequence using GOT is typically position-independent as well, but using dynamic relocations does not meet the requirement. Not defining PI_STATIC_AND_HIDDEN is legacy and we expect that all new ports will define PI_STATIC_AND_HIDDEN. Current ports defining PI_STATIC_AND_HIDDEN are more than the opposite. * elf: Add _dl_find_object functionFlorian Weimer2021-12-281-0/+25
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | It can be used to speed up the libgcc unwinder, and the internal _dl_find_dso_for_object function (which is used for caller identification in dlopen and related functions, and in dladdr). _dl_find_object is in the internal namespace due to bug 28503. If libgcc switches to _dl_find_object, this namespace issue will be fixed. It is located in libc for two reasons: it is necessary to forward the call to the static libc after static dlopen, and there is a link ordering issue with -static-libgcc and libgcc_eh.a because libc.so is not a linker script that includes ld.so in the glibc build tree (so that GCC's internal -lc after libgcc_eh.a does not pick up ld.so). It is necessary to do the i386 customization in the sysdeps/x86/bits/dl_find_object.h header shared with x86-64 because otherwise, multilib installations are broken. The implementation uses software transactional memory, as suggested by Torvald Riegel. Two copies of the supporting data structures are used, also achieving full async-signal-safety. * Remove TLS_TCB_ALIGN and TLS_INIT_TCB_ALIGNFlorian Weimer2021-12-091-7/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | TLS_INIT_TCB_ALIGN is not actually used. TLS_TCB_ALIGN was likely introduced to support a configuration where the thread pointer has not the same alignment as THREAD_SELF. Only ia64 seems to use that, but for the stack/pointer guard, not for storing tcbhead_t. Some ports use TLS_TCB_OFFSET and TLS_PRE_TCB_SIZE to shift the thread pointer, potentially landing in a different residue class modulo the alignment, but the changes should not impact that. In general, given that TLS variables have their own alignment requirements, having different alignment for the (unshifted) thread pointer and struct pthread would potentially result in dynamic offsets, leading to more complexity. hppa had different values before: __alignof__ (tcbhead_t), which seems to be 4, and __alignof__ (struct pthread), which was 8 (old default) and is now 32. However, it defines THREAD_SELF as: /* Return the thread descriptor for the current thread. */ # define THREAD_SELF \ ({ struct pthread *__self; \ __self = __get_cr27(); \ __self - 1; \ }) So the thread pointer points after struct pthread (hence __self - 1), and they have to have the same alignment on hppa as well. Similarly, on ia64, the definitions were different. We have: # define TLS_PRE_TCB_SIZE \ (sizeof (struct pthread) \ + (PTHREAD_STRUCT_END_PADDING < 2 * sizeof (uintptr_t) \ ? ((2 * sizeof (uintptr_t) + __alignof__ (struct pthread) - 1) \ & ~(__alignof__ (struct pthread) - 1)) \ : 0)) # define THREAD_SELF \ ((struct pthread *) ((char *) __thread_self - TLS_PRE_TCB_SIZE)) And TLS_PRE_TCB_SIZE is a multiple of the struct pthread alignment (confirmed by the new _Static_assert in sysdeps/ia64/libc-tls.c). On m68k, we have a larger gap between tcbhead_t and struct pthread. But as far as I can tell, the port is fine with that. The definition of TCB_OFFSET is sufficient to handle the shifted TCB scenario. This fixes commit 23c77f60181eb549f11ec2f913b4270af29eee38 ("nptl: Increase default TCB alignment to 32"). * elf: Fix dynamic-link.h usage on rtld.cAdhemerval Zanella2021-10-141-4/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The 4af6982e4c fix does not fully handle RTLD_BOOTSTRAP usage on rtld.c due two issues: 1. RTLD_BOOTSTRAP is also used on dl-machine.h on various architectures and it changes the semantics of various machine relocation functions. 2. The elf_get_dynamic_info() change was done sideways, previously to 490e6c62aa get-dynamic-info.h was included by the first dynamic-link.h include *without* RTLD_BOOTSTRAP being defined. It means that the code within elf_get_dynamic_info() that uses RTLD_BOOTSTRAP is in fact unused. To fix 1. this patch now includes dynamic-link.h only once with RTLD_BOOTSTRAP defined. The ELF_DYNAMIC_RELOCATE call will now have the relocation fnctions with the expected semantics for the loader. And to fix 2. part of 4af6982e4c is reverted (the check argument elf_get_dynamic_info() is not required) and the RTLD_BOOTSTRAP pieces are removed. To reorganize the includes the static TLS definition is moved to its own header to avoid a circular dependency (it is defined on dynamic-link.h and dl-machine.h requires it at same time other dynamic-link.h definition requires dl-machine.h defitions). Also ELF_MACHINE_NO_REL, ELF_MACHINE_NO_RELA, and ELF_MACHINE_PLT_REL are moved to its own header. Only ancient ABIs need special values (arm, i386, and mips), so a generic one is used as default. The powerpc Elf64_FuncDesc is also moved to its own header, since csu code required its definition (which would require either include elf/ folder or add a full path with elf/). * elf: Avoid nested functions in the loader [BZ #27220]Fangrui Song2021-10-071-9/+12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | dynamic-link.h is included more than once in some elf/ files (rtld.c, dl-conflict.c, dl-reloc.c, dl-reloc-static-pie.c) and uses GCC nested functions. This harms readability and the nested functions usage is the biggest obstacle prevents Clang build (Clang doesn't support GCC nested functions). The key idea for unnesting is to add extra parameters (struct link_map *and struct r_scope_elm *[]) to RESOLVE_MAP, ELF_MACHINE_BEFORE_RTLD_RELOC, ELF_DYNAMIC_RELOCATE, elf_machine_rel[a], elf_machine_lazy_rel, and elf_machine_runtime_setup. (This is inspired by Stan Shebs' ppc64/x86-64 implementation in the google/grte/v5-2.27/master which uses mixed extra parameters and static variables.) Future simplification: * If mips elf_machine_runtime_setup no longer needs RESOLVE_GOTSYM, elf_machine_runtime_setup can drop the `scope` parameter. * If TLSDESC no longer need to be in elf_machine_lazy_rel, elf_machine_lazy_rel can drop the `scope` parameter. * Reduce the statically linked startup code [BZ #23323]Florian Weimer2021-02-251-12/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | It turns out the startup code in csu/elf-init.c has a perfect pair of ROP gadgets (see Marco-Gisbert and Ripoll-Ripoll, "return-to-csu: A New Method to Bypass 64-bit Linux ASLR"). These functions are not needed in dynamically-linked binaries because DT_INIT/DT_INIT_ARRAY are already processed by the dynamic linker. However, the dynamic linker skipped the main program for some reason. For maximum backwards compatibility, this is not changed, and instead, the main map is consulted from __libc_start_main if the init function argument is a NULL pointer. For statically linked binaries, the old approach based on linker symbols is still used because there is nothing else available. A new symbol version __libc_start_main@@GLIBC_2.34 is introduced because new binaries running on an old libc would not run their ELF constructors, leading to difficult-to-debug issues.

* aarch64: enforce >=64K guard size [BZ #26691]Szabolcs Nagy2020-10-021-0/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | There are several compiler implementations that allow large stack allocations to jump over the guard page at the end of the stack and corrupt memory beyond that. See CVE-2017-1000364. Compilers can emit code to probe the stack such that the guard page cannot be skipped, but on aarch64 the probe interval is 64K by default instead of the minimum supported page size (4K). This patch enforces at least 64K guard on aarch64 unless the guard is disabled by setting its size to 0. For backward compatibility reasons the increased guard is not reported, so it is only observable by exhausting the address space or parsing /proc/self/maps on linux. On other targets the patch has no effect. If the stack probe interval is larger than a page size on a target then ARCH_MIN_GUARD_SIZE can be defined to get large enough stack guard on libc allocated stacks. The patch does not affect threads with user allocated stacks. Fixes bug 26691.

* Remove most gmp-mparam.h headers.Joseph Myers2020-04-241-23/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Most gmp-mparam.h headers in glibc define various macros to the same values they would be defined to by the generic version of that header, plus macros IEEE_DOUBLE_BIG_ENDIAN or IEEE_DOUBLE_MIXED_ENDIAN related to the representation of double. The latter macros are in turn only used in gmp-impl.h to define union ieee_double_extract, which is not used in glibc. Thus all of these headers, except for the generic one and those that define _LONG_LONG_LIMB for ILP32 configurations with 64-bit registers, are redundant, and this patch removes them. Tested with build-many-glibcs.py that installed stripped shared libraries are unchanged by this patch.

* Introduce <elf-initfini.h> and ELF_INITFINI for all architecturesFlorian Weimer2020-02-181-0/+20
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This supersedes the init_array sysdeps directory. It allows us to check for ELF_INITFINI in both C and assembler code, and skip DT_INIT and DT_FINI processing completely on newer architectures. A new header file is needed because <dl-machine.h> is incompatible with assembler code. <sysdep.h> is compatible with assembler code, but it cannot be included in all assembler files because on some architectures, it redefines register names, and some assembler files conflict with that. <elf-initfini.h> is replicated for legacy architectures which need DT_INIT/DT_FINI support. New architectures follow the generic default and disable it.

The default pthread_rwlock_t layout differs from current ports with: 1. Internal layout is the same for 32 bits and 64 bits. 2. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The current way of defining the common mutex definition for POSIX and C11 on pthreadtypes-arch.h (added by commit 06be6368da16104be5) is not really the best options for newer ports. It requires define some misleading flags that should be always defined as 0 (__PTHREAD_COMPAT_PADDING_MID and __PTHREAD_COMPAT_PADDING_END), it exposes options used solely for linuxthreads compat mode (__PTHREAD_MUTEX_USE_UNION and __PTHREAD_MUTEX_NUSERS_AFTER_KIND), and requires newer ports to explicit define them (adding more boilerplate code). This patch adds a new default __pthread_mutex_s definition meant to be used by newer ports. Its layout mimics the current usage on both 32 and 64 bits ports and it allows most ports to use the generic definition. Only ports that use some arch-specific definition (such as hardware lock-elision or linuxthreads compat) requires specific headers. For 32 bit, the generic definitions mimic the other 32-bit ports of using an union to define the fields uses on adaptive and robust mutexes (thus not allowing both usage at same time) and by using a single linked-list for robust mutexes. Both decisions seemed to follow what recent ports have done and make the resulting pthread_mutex_t/mtx_t object smaller. Also the static intialization macro for pthread_mutex_t is set to use a macro __PTHREAD_MUTEX_INITIALIZER where the architecture can redefine in its struct_mutex.h if it requires additional fields to be initialized. * Split up endian.h to minimize exposure of BYTE_ORDER.Alistair Francis2019-10-013-13/+17

This patch creates a new bits/endian.h that can be included by any header that wants to be able to test __BYTE_ORDER and/or __FLOAT_WORD_ORDER against the __*_ENDIAN constants, or needs __LONG_LONG_PAIR. It only defines macros in the implementation namespace. The existing bits/endian.h (which could not be included independently of endian.h, and only defines __BYTE_ORDER and maybe __FLOAT_WORD_ORDER) is renamed to bits/endianness.h. I also took the opportunity to canonicalize the form of this header, which we are stuck with having one copy of per architecture. Since they are so short, this means git doesn’t understand that they were renamed from existing headers, sigh. endian.h itself is a nonstandard header and its only remaining use from a standard header is guarded by __USE_MISC, so I dropped the __USE_MISC conditionals from around all of the public-namespace things it defines. (This means, an application that requests strict library conformance but includes endian.h will still see the definition of BYTE_ORDER.) A few changes to specific bits/endian(ness).h variants deserve mention: - sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/ia64/bits/endian.h is moved to sysdeps/ia64/bits/endianness.h. If I remember correctly, ia64 did have selectable endianness, but we have assembly code in sysdeps/ia64 that assumes it’s little-endian, so there is no reason to treat the ia64 endianness.h as linux-specific. - The C-SKY port does not fully support big-endian mode, the compile will error out if __CSKYBE__ is defined. - The PowerPC port had extra logic in its bits/endian.h to detect a broken compiler, which strikes me as unnecessary, so I removed it. - The only files that defined __FLOAT_WORD_ORDER always defined it to the same value as __BYTE_ORDER, so I removed those definitions. The SH bits/endian(ness).h had comments inconsistent with the actual setting of __FLOAT_WORD_ORDER, which I also removed. - I *removed* copyright boilerplate from the few bits/endian(ness).h headers that had it; these files record a single fact in a fashion dictated by an external spec, so I do not think they are copyrightable. As long as I was changing every copy of ieee754.h in the tree, I noticed that only the MIPS variant includes float.h, because it uses LDBL_MANT_DIG to decide among three different versions of ieee854_long_double. This patch makes it not include float.h when GCC’s intrinsic __LDBL_MANT_DIG__ is available. * string/endian.h: Unconditionally define LITTLE_ENDIAN, BIG_ENDIAN, PDP_ENDIAN, and BYTE_ORDER. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Continuing moving macros out of math-tests.h to smaller headers following typo-proof conventions instead of using #ifndef, this patch moves the EXCEPTION_TESTS_* macros for individual types out to their own sysdeps header. As with ROUNDING_TESTS_*, there is no need to define these macros if FE_ALL_EXCEPT == 0 and the individual exception macros are undefined; thus, math-tests-exceptions.h headers are only needed for soft-float ARM and RISC-V, while the other cases that defined these macros do not need to do so (and the associated math-tests.h headers are thus removed without needing replacement by math-tests-exceptions.h headers). | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Continuing moving macros out of math-tests.h to smaller headers following typo-proof conventions instead of using #ifndef, this patch moves the ROUNDING_TESTS_* macros for individual types out to their own sysdeps header. In the soft-float case where FE_TONEAREST is the only rounding mode macro defined, there is no need to define ROUNDING_TESTS_*; it is only necessary when rounding modes macros are defined that may not be supported at runtime. Thus, the ROUNDING_TESTS_* definitions for some configurations are just removed, not moved to new math-tests-rounding.h headers; the only architectures needing math-tests-rounding.h are those where the macros are defined in bits/fenv.h because of the possibility of a soft-float compilation using a hard-float glibc with the same ABI (i.e., ARM and RISC-V). The test-*-vlen*.h headers, by using #undef, do not yet follow typo-proof conventions (but they no longer implicitly rely on being included before math-tests.h, and this area can always be cleaned up further in future). * Make powerpc-nofpu __sqrtsf2, __sqrtdf2 compat symbols (bug 18473).Joseph Myers2018-06-011-2/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | powerpc-nofpu libc exports __sqrtsf2 and __sqrtdf2 symbols. The export of these soft-fp symbols is a mistake; they aren't part of the libgcc interface and GCC will never generate code that calls them. This patch makes them into compat symbols (no code built for static libc), moving their sources from the generic soft-fp sources to sysdeps/powerpc/nofpu (the underlying soft-fp FP_SQRT functionality remains of use to implement actual sqrt public interfaces, such as sqrtl / sqrtf128 for which it is used on various platforms, but __sqrt[sdt]f2 are not such interfaces). * elf: Unify symbol address run-time calculation [BZ #19818]Maciej W. Rozycki2018-04-041-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Wrap symbol address run-time calculation into a macro and use it throughout, replacing inline calculations. There are a couple of variants, most of them different in a functionally insignificant way. Most calculations are right following RESOLVE_MAP, at which point either the map or the symbol returned can be checked for validity as the macro sets either both or neither. In some places both the symbol and the map has to be checked however. My initial implementation therefore always checked both, however that resulted in code larger by as much as 0.3%, as many places know from elsewhere that no check is needed. I have decided the size growth was unacceptable. Having looked closer I realized that it's the map that is the culprit. Therefore I have modified LOOKUP_VALUE_ADDRESS to accept an additional boolean argument telling it to access the map without checking it for validity. This in turn has brought quite nice results, with new code actually being smaller for i686, and MIPS o32, n32 and little-endian n64 targets, unchanged in size for x86-64 and, unusually, marginally larger for big-endian MIPS n64, as follows: i686: text data bss dec hex filename 152255 4052 192 156499 26353 ld-2.27.9000-base.so 152159 4052 192 156403 262f3 ld-2.27.9000-elf-symbol-value.so MIPS/o32/el: text data bss dec hex filename 142906 4396 260 147562 2406a ld-2.27.9000-base.so 142890 4396 260 147546 2405a ld-2.27.9000-elf-symbol-value.so MIPS/n32/el: text data bss dec hex filename 142267 4404 260 146931 23df3 ld-2.27.9000-base.so 142171 4404 260 146835 23d93 ld-2.27.9000-elf-symbol-value.so MIPS/n64/el: text data bss dec hex filename 149835 7376 408 157619 267b3 ld-2.27.9000-base.so 149787 7376 408 157571 26783 ld-2.27.9000-elf-symbol-value.so MIPS/o32/eb: text data bss dec hex filename 142870 4396 260 147526 24046 ld-2.27.9000-base.so 142854 4396 260 147510 24036 ld-2.27.9000-elf-symbol-value.so MIPS/n32/eb: text data bss dec hex filename 142019 4404 260 146683 23cfb ld-2.27.9000-base.so 141923 4404 260 146587 23c9b ld-2.27.9000-elf-symbol-value.so MIPS/n64/eb: text data bss dec hex filename 149763 7376 408 157547 2676b ld-2.27.9000-base.so 149779 7376 408 157563 2677b ld-2.27.9000-elf-symbol-value.so x86-64: text data bss dec hex filename 148462 6452 400 155314 25eb2 ld-2.27.9000-base.so 148462 6452 400 155314 25eb2 ld-2.27.9000-elf-symbol-value.so [BZ #19818] * sysdeps/generic/ldsodefs.h (LOOKUP_VALUE_ADDRESS): Add `set' parameter. * Use x86_64 backtrace as generic version.Joseph Myers2018-03-211-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | No glibc configuration uses the present debug/backtrace.c, whereas several #include the x86_64 version. The x86_64 version is effectively a generic one (using _Unwind_Backtrace from libgcc, which works much more reliably than the built-in functions used by debug/backtrace.c). This patch moves it to debug/backtrace.c and removes all the #includes of the x86_64 version from other architectures which are no longer required. I do not know whether all the other architecture-specific backtrace implementations that are based on _Unwind_Backtrace are required, or whether, where their differences from the generic version do something useful, suitable hooks could be added to the generic version to reduce the duplication involved. Tested with build-many-glibcs.py that installed stripped shared libraries are unchanged by this patch. * sysdeps/x86_64/backtrace.c: Move to .... * debug/backtrace.c: ... here. * sysdeps/aarch64/backtrace.c: Remove file. * sysdeps/alpha/backtrace.c: Likewise. * sysdeps/hppa/backtrace.c: Likewise. * sysdeps/ia64/backtrace.c: Likewise. * sysdeps/mips/backtrace.c: Likewise. * sysdeps/nios2/backtrace.c: Likewise. * sysdeps/riscv/backtrace.c: Likewise. * sysdeps/sh/backtrace.c: Likewise. * sysdeps/tile/backtrace.c: Likewise.

* Move LDBL_CLASSIFY_COMPAT to its own header.Joseph Myers2018-02-011-4/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The general rule in glibc is that it's better for a macro to be always defined, and tested with #if, than for it to be tested with #ifdef, because the latter is prone to typos in the macro name as well as to the header with the macro accidentally not being included in a file testing it. (Testing with an "if" statement is even better, in those cases where it's possible to do things that way, as it then means both cases in the code get checked for syntax in glibc builds with either value of the condition.) math_private.h has several different groups of macros, meaning that architectures wanting to override some of them need to define those then include the generic version, which then defines macros if not already defined. It's hard to avoid that arrangement completely, but various cases can be improved by splitting out macros or groups of macros into separate files. This patch splits out the LDBL_CLASSIFY_COMPAT macro into a separate ldbl-classify-compat.h header. This macro is tested with #ifdef; this patch changes it to testing with #if, with a default definition to 0 in the generic header and then architecture-specific headers defining it to 1. Tested with build-many-glibcs.py that installed stripped shared libraries are unchanged by the patch. * sysdeps/generic/ldbl-classify-compat.h: New file. * sysdeps/arm/ldbl-classify-compat.h: Likewise. * sysdeps/m68k/coldfire/ldbl-classify-compat.h: Likewise. * sysdeps/microblaze/ldbl-classify-compat.h: Likewise. * sysdeps/mips/ldbl-classify-compat.h: Likewise. * sysdeps/nios2/ldbl-classify-compat.h: Likewise. * sysdeps/sh/ldbl-classify-compat.h: Likewise. * sysdeps/ieee754/dbl-64/s_finite.c: Include <ldbl-classify-compat.h>. * Remove some math_private.h libc_feholdexcept_setround overrides.Joseph Myers2018-02-011-19/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | math_private.h headers for configurations lacking support for floating-point exceptions and rounding modes define libc_feholdexcept_setround to override the default version with one that discards its rounding mode argument. Unlike other such libc_fe* macros that I removed, this one is actually used for such configurations (in dbl-64/e_sqrt.c). However, this does not make the macro required. It's only used for such configurations with FE_TONEAREST as the rounding mode (anything needing another mode should not be used when that mode is unavailable), and the default definition just calls __feholdexcept and __fesetround. Since we now have suitable inline do-nothing definitions of __feholdexcept and __fesetround for the cases of no exceptions and rounding modes, we can just rely on those inlines to achieve the same optimization as this macro definition. Thus, this patch removes those macro definitions (and the math_private.h headers containing them, when no longer needed after that removal). Tested with build-many-glibcs.py that installed stripped shared libraries are unchanged by the patch. * sysdeps/m68k/coldfire/fpu/math_private.h: Move to .... * sysdeps/m68k/coldfire/math_private.h: ... here. * sysdeps/m68k/coldfire/nofpu/math_private.h: Remove file. * sysdeps/tile/math_private.h: Likewise. * sysdeps/microblaze/math_private.h (libc_feholdexcept_setround): Remove macro. * sysdeps/nios2/math_private.h (libc_feholdexcept_setround): Likewise.
* Remove some math_private.h libc_fe* overrides.Joseph Myers2018-02-011-3/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | math_private.h headers for configurations lacking support for floating-point exceptions and rounding modes define various libc_fe* macros to override the default versions with ones that discard any exception or rounding mode arguments. Three of the four macros defined in these headers are no longer needed there: those macros are only used in fma implementations that are not used for such configurations, now all those configurations properly use soft-fp fma implementations instead. (Effectively, those macros were a workaround to allow glibc to build in the absence of a proper fma implementation for this case - now there is such an implementation, there is no need to support building the wrong implementation for those configurations.) Thus, this patch removes the unnecessary macros.
