Continuing the move to use, within libm, public names for libm
functions that can be inlined as built-in functions on many
architectures, this patch moves calls to __rint functions to call the
corresponding rint names instead, with asm redirection to __rint when
the calls are not inlined. The x86_64 math_private.h is removed as no
longer useful after this patch.
This patch is relative to a tree with my floor patch
<https://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2018-09/msg00148.html> applied,
and much the same considerations arise regarding possibly replacing an
IFUNC call with a direct inline expansion.
Tested for x86_64, and with build-many-glibcs.py.

After some math_private.h cleanups (in particulat math-barriers.h
being split out), the only thing left in the alpha math_private.h was
macro definitions of __isnan and __isnanf, apparently (based on the
comments) intended to avoid problems with inline definitions in other
math_private.h files. Those inline definitions were removed in commit
fe8c2b33aed067282ecac0cc3fdff1feef88548b, and the alpha math_private.h
is no longer needed; this patch removes it.
Tested with build-many-glibcs.py that installed stripped shared
libraries for alpha are unchanged by the patch.
* sysdeps/alpha/fpu/math_private.h: Remove.

This patch continues cleaning up math_private.h by moving the
math_opt_barrier and math_force_eval macros to a separate header
math-barriers.h.
At present, those macros are inside a "#ifndef math_opt_barrier" in
math_private.h to allow architectures to override them and then use
a separate math-barriers.h header, no such #ifndef or #include_next is
needed; architectures just have their own alternative version of
math-barriers.h when providing their own optimized versions that avoid
going through memory unnecessarily. The generic math-barriers.h has a
comment added to document these two macros.
In this patch, math_private.h is made to #include <math-barriers.h>,
so files using these macros do not need updating yet. That is because
of uses of math_force_eval in math_check_force_underflow and
math_check_force_underflow_nonneg, which are still defined in
math_private.h. Once those are moved out to a separate header, that
separate header can be made to include <math-barriers.h>, as can the
other files directly using these barrier macros, and then the include
of <math-barriers.h> from math_private.h can be removed.
Tested for x86_64 and x86. Also tested with build-many-glibcs.py that
installed stripped shared libraries are unchanged by this patch.

Remove the now unused target specific__ieee754_sqrt(f/l) inlines.
Also remove inlines of sqrt which are for really old GCC versions.
Removing these is desirable, under the general principle of leaving
such inlining to the compiler rather than trying to do it in installed
headers, especially when only very old compilers are affected.
Note that removing inlines for __ieee754_sqrt disables inlining in the
sqrt wrapper functions. Given the sqrt function will typically only be
called for negative arguments, it doesn't matter whether the inlining
happens or not.

The sysdeps/ieee754/ldbl-opt version of math_ldbl_opt.h includes
math.h and math_private.h, despite not having any need for those
headers itself; the sysdeps/generic version doesn't. About 20 files

As discussed in libc-alpha [1], alpha trunc{f} implementation uses
addt/suc and subt/suc and although the Alpha Architecture
Handbook version 3 states that that ADDx SUBx OUTPUT Exceptions
(B.3 Mapping to IEEE Standard) should not generate Inexact if INE
bit is set, the Alpha 21264 [2] chip manual (A.8 IEEE Floating-Point
Conformance) states that ADDx SUBx OUTPUT does generate inexact
exception for inexact result regardless.
As Joseph noted [3] to correctly fix it on alpha we need to either
avoid the instruction or avoid any inexact bit from it being set
on return from the function (while preserving the inexact bit that
might be set on the entry to the function). The later will result
mf_fpcr followed by a mt_fpcr to get and set the fpcr which will
defeat the optimization itself.
So the patch just remove the alpha optimized and rely on generic
implementation. It fixes the math/test-*-{trunc} on alpha.

Various fmax and fmin function implementations mishandle sNaN
arguments:
(a) When both arguments are NaNs, the return value should be a qNaN,
but sometimes it is an sNaN if at least one argument is an sNaN.
(b) Under TS 18661-1 semantics, if either argument is an sNaN then the
result should be a qNaN (whereas if one argument is a qNaN and the
other is not a NaN, the result should be the non-NaN argument).
Various implementations treat sNaNs like qNaNs here.
One way to fix that is to detect the sNaN and add a special case. That
said there is no FPU instruction to do that, so it requires transfering
the FP value to an integer register and testing bits. This becomes quite
complicated so it's probably better to just use the generic versions of
these functions which just do that through issignaling.

Continuing the preparation for additional _FloatN / _FloatNx function
aliases, this patch makes alpha libm function implementations use
libm_alias_float macros to define function aliases. In the case of
the ABI compatibility for complex functions, libm_alias_float_other is
used, with the cfloat_versions macro adjusted to take a function name
argument without the trailing 'f' to facilitate this, and
cfloat_versions dealing with calling libm_alias_float_other (except
for clog10f, which doesn't use that macro because of the complexity
associated with __clog10f also being exported).
Tested with build-many-glibcs.py for alpha-linux-gnu that installed

This patch makes dbl-64 fma use libm_alias_double. The ldbl-opt

Given my recent changes, sysdeps/alpha/fpu/s_nearbyint.c is no longer
needed: it just includes the dbl-64/wordsize-64 version, which is the
one that would be used anyway, and defines a compat symbol,
duplicating the same compat symbol defined by the dbl-64/wordsize-64
version through use of libm_alias_double. Thus, this patch removes
the redundant wrapper.
Tested with build-many-glibcs.py that installed stripped shared
libraries are unchanged for alpha.

Simplify the C99 isgreater macros. Although some support was added
in GCC 2.97, not all targets added support until GCC 3.1. Therefore
only use the builtins in math.h from GCC 3.1 onwards, and defer to
generic macros otherwise. Improve the generic isunordered macro
to use compares rather than call fpclassify twice - this is not only
faster but also correct for signaling NaNs.

This patch obsoletes the pow10, pow10f and pow10l functions (makes
them into compat symbols, not available for new ports or static
linking). The exp10 names for these functions are standardized (in TS
18661-4) and were added in the same glibc version (2.1) as pow10 so
source code can change to use them without any loss of portability.
Since pow10 is deliberately not provided for _Float128, only exp10,
this slightly simplifies moving to the new wrapper templates in the
!LIBM_SVID_COMPAT case, by avoiding needing to arrange for pow10,
pow10f and pow10l to be defined by those templates.

On alpha, sqrt (a C90 function) brings in references to fegetenv
(C99), resulting in linknamespace test failures:
[initial] __sqrt -> [libm.a(w_sqrt.o)] __ieee754_sqrt ->
[libm.a(e_sqrt.o)] __feholdexcept -> [libm.a(feholdexcpt.o)] fegetenv
This patch fixes this by making __feholdexcept call __fegetenv instead
of fegetenv.
Tested for Alpha (compilation only).

manual/libm-err-tab.pl hardcodes a list of names for particular
platforms (mapping from sysdeps directory name to friendly name for
the manual). This goes against the principle of keeping information
about individual platforms in their corresponding sysdeps directory,
and the list is also very out-of-date regarding supported platforms
and their corresponding sysdeps directories.
This patch fixes this by adding a libm-test-ulps-name file alongside
each libm-test-ulps file. The script then gets the friendly name from
that file, which is required to exist, so it no longer needs to allow
for the mapping being missing.
Tested for x86_64.

TS 18661-1 defines a type femode_t to represent the set of dynamic
floating-point control modes (such as the rounding mode and trap
enablement modes), and functions fegetmode and fesetmode to manipulate
those modes (without affecting other state such as the raised
exception flags) and a corresponding macro FE_DFL_MODE.
This patch series implements those interfaces for glibc. This first
patch adds the architecture-independent pieces, the x86 and x86_64
implementations, and the <bits/fenv.h> and ABI baseline updates for
all architectures so glibc keeps building and passing the ABI tests on
all architectures. Subsequent patches add the fegetmode and fesetmode
implementations for other architectures.
femode_t is generally an integer type - the same type as fenv_t, or as
the single element of fenv_t where fenv_t is a structure containing a
single integer (or the single relevant element, where it has elements
for both status and control registers) - except where architecture
properties or consistency with the fenv_t implementation indicate
otherwise. FE_DFL_MODE follows FE_DFL_ENV in whether it's a magic
pointer value (-1 cast to const femode_t *), a value that can be
distinguished from valid pointers by its high bits but otherwise
contains a representation of the desired register contents, or a
pointer to a constant variable (the powerpc case; __fe_dfl_mode is
added as an exported constant object, an alias to __fe_dfl_env).
Note that where architectures (that share a register between control
and status bits) gain definitions of new floating-point control or
status bits in future, the implementations of fesetmode for those
architectures may need updating (depending on whether the new bits are
control or status bits and what the implementation does with
previously unknown bits), just like existing implementations of
<fenv.h> functions that take care not to touch reserved bits may need
updating when the set of reserved bits changes. (As any new bits are
outside the scope of ISO C, that's just a quality-of-implementation
issue for supporting them, not a conformance issue.)
As with fenv_t, femode_t should properly include any software DFP
rounding mode (and for both fenv_t and femode_t I'd consider that
fragment of DFP support appropriate for inclusion in glibc even in the
absence of the rest of libdfp; hardware DFP rounding modes should
already be included if the definitions of which bits are status /
control bits are correct).
Tested for x86_64, x86, mips64 (hard float, and soft float to test the
fallback version), arm (hard float) and powerpc (hard float, soft
float and e500). Other architecture versions are untested.

Change this by returning the input value when its absolute value is
greater than 0x1.0p23 or 0x1.0p52. NaN have to go through the add and
subtract operations to get possibly silenced.
Finally remove the code to handle inexact exception, trunc should never
generate such an exception.

Various C90 and UNIX98 libm functions call feraiseexcept, which is not
in those standards. This causes linknamespace test failures - except
on x86 / x86_64, where feraiseexcept is inline (for the relevant
constant arguments) in bits/fenv.h.
This patch fixes this by making those functions call __feraiseexcept
instead. All changes are applied to all architectures rather than
considering the possibility that some might not be needed in some
cases (e.g. x86) as it seems most maintainable to keep architectures
consistent.
Where __feraiseexcept does not exist, it is added, with feraiseexcept
made a weak alias; where it is a strong alias, it is made weak.
libm_hidden_def / libm_hidden_proto are used with __feraiseexcept
(this might in some cases improve code generation for existing calls
to __feraiseexcept in some code on some architectures). Where there
are dummy feraiseexcept macros (on architectures without
floating-point exceptions support, to avoid compile errors from
references to undefined FE_* macros), corresponding dummy
__feraiseexcept macros are added. And on x86, to ensure
__feraiseexcept calls still get inlined, the inline function in
bits/fenv.h is refactored so that most of it can be reused in an
inline __feraiseexcept in a separate include/bits/fenv.h.
Calls are changed in C90/UNIX98 functions, but generally not in
functions missing from those standards. They are also changed in
libc_fe* functions (on the basis that those might be used in any libm
function), and in feupdateenv (on the same basis - may be used, via
default libc_*, in any libm function - of course feupdateenv will need
changing to __feupdateenv in a subsequent patch to make that fully
namespace-clean).
No __feraiseexcept is added corresponding to the feraiseexcept in
powerpc bits/fenvinline.h, because that macro definition is
conditional on !defined __NO_MATH_INLINES, and glibc libm is built
with -D__NO_MATH_INLINES, so changing internal calls to use
__feraiseexcept should make no difference.
Tested for x86_64 (testsuite; the only change in disassembly of
installed shared libraries is a slight code reordering in clog10, of
no apparent significance). Also tested for MIPS, where (in the
configuration tested) it eliminates math.h linknamespace failures for
n32 and n64 (some for o32 remain because of other issues).

The original implementation was written for EV5, which does not
record inexact in the status register for /SU (but no /I) insns.
But EV6 does record the inexact status; the lack of /I simply
means that the exception is suppressed.
Adding feholdexcept becomes the bulk of the overhead, so we might
as well use the default implementation.
