| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | I used these shell commands: ../glibc/scripts/update-copyrights $PWD/../gnulib/build-aux/update-copyright (cd ../glibc && git commit -am"[this commit message]") and then ignored the output, which consisted lines saying "FOO: warning: copyright statement not found" for each of 7061 files FOO. I then removed trailing white space from math/tgmath.h, support/tst-support-open-dev-null-range.c, and sysdeps/x86_64/multiarch/strlen-vec.S, to work around the following obscure pre-commit check failure diagnostics from Savannah. I don't know why I run into these diagnostics whereas others evidently do not. remote: *** 912-#endif remote: *** 913: remote: *** 914- remote: *** error: lines with trailing whitespace found ... remote: *** error: sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/statx_cp.c: trailing lines
* Force building with -fno-commonFlorian Weimer2021-07-091-4/+2
| | | | | | | | | | As a result, is not necessary to specify __attribute__ ((nocommon)) on individual definitions. GCC 10 defaults to -fno-common on all architectures except ARC, but this change is compatible with older GCC versions and ARC, too. Reviewed-by: Carlos O'Donell <carlos@redhat.com>
* nptl: Move __default_pthread_attr, __default_pthread_attr_lock into libcFlorian Weimer2021-05-101-2/+6
| | | | | | | | The GLIBC_PRIVATE exports for these symbols are expected to be temporary. Tested-by: Carlos O'Donell <carlos@redhat.com> Reviewed-by: Carlos O'Donell <carlos@redhat.com>
* nptl: Eliminate __pthread_multiple_threadsFlorian Weimer2021-05-101-7/+0
| | | | | | | It is no longer needed after the SINGLE_THREADED_P consolidation. Tested-by: Carlos O'Donell <carlos@redhat.com> Reviewed-by: Carlos O'Donell <carlos@redhat.com>
* nptl: Move __pthread_keys global variable into libcFlorian Weimer2021-04-211-5/+0
| | | | | | | This prepares moving pthread_exit, and later the pthread_key_create infrastructure. Reviewed-by: Adhemerval Zanella <adhemerval.zanella@linaro.org>

* nptl: Eliminate <smp.h> and __is_smpFlorian Weimer2020-11-131-3/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | Most systems are SMP, so optimizing for the UP case is no longer approriate. A dynamic check based on the kernel identification has been only implemented for i386 anyway. To disable adaptive mutexes on sh, define DEFAULT_ADAPTIVE_COUNT as zero for this architecture. Reviewed-by: Adhemerval Zanella <adhemerval.zanella@linaro.org>
* nptl: Change type of __default_pthread_attrFlorian Weimer2020-06-021-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | union pthread_attr_transparent has always the correct size, even if pthread_attr_t has padding that is not present in struct pthread_attr. This should not result in an observable behavioral change. The existing code appears to have been correct, but it was brittle because it was not clear which functions were allowed to write to an entire pthread_attr_t argument (e.g., by copying it). * New API to set default thread attributesSiddhesh Poyarekar2013-06-151-0/+3
| | | | | | | This patch introduces two new convenience functions to set the default thread attributes used for creating threads. This allows a programmer to set the default thread attributes just once in a process and then run pthread_create without additional attributes.

* Allow a single-threaded program to cancel itselfSiddhesh Poyarekar2012-05-151-1/+3
| | | | | | | | | There is nothing in the POSIX specification to disallow a single-threaded program from cancelling itself, so we forcibly enable multiple_threads to allow the next available cancellation point in the thread to run. Also added additional tests to cover various cancellation scenarios.
