* Update code to handle the new ABI for sending inlined port rights.Flavio Cruz2023-12-171-3/+9
| | | | | For i686, this change is no op but for x86_64 it forces all inlined port rights to be 8 bytes long.

* mach: Fix startup with stack protectorSamuel Thibault2023-05-271-0/+1
| | | | | thread_set_state() is used to set up TLS, so stack protection can not be used yet.
* mach: Fix mach_setup_thread_impl with NULL stack_baseSamuel Thibault2023-05-221-7/+7
| | | | This is notably necessary for running the gmon thread.
* mach: Add __mach_setup_thread_call ()Sergey Bugaev2023-05-173-16/+74
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | This is just like mach_setup_thread (), but it's suitable for making the thread call a function correctly, as opposed to explicitly setting the thread's stack and instruction pointers to the given values. Internally, it uses MACHINE_THREAD_STATE_SETUP_CALL. Unlike mach_setup_thread (), which is exported via mach.h for the benefit of the Hurd exec server, __mach_setup_thread_call () is private to glibc for the time being. * Define __mig_strlen to support dynamically sized strings in hurd RPCsFlavio Cruz2023-05-014-1/+29
| | | | | | | We make lib{mach,hurd}user.so only call __mig_strlen which can be relocated before libc.so is relocated, similar to what is done with __mig_memcpy. Message-Id: <ZE8DTRDpY2hpPZlJ@jupiter.tail36e24.ts.net>
* Make __mach_msg_destroy portable for x86_64Flavio Cruz2023-05-011-4/+5
| | | | | | We need to align on uintptr_t to make this work for x86_64, otherwise things will go wrong when RPCs return errors. Message-Id: <ZE3aPH7uCEDti47H@jupiter.tail36e24.ts.net>
* mach: Use PAGE_SIZESergey Bugaev2023-02-201-1/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | The PAGE_SIZE from the Mach headers statically defines the machine's page size. There's no need to query it dynamically; furthermore, the implementation of the vm_statistics () RPC unconditionally fills in pagesize = PAGE_SIZE; Not doing the extra RPC shaves off 2 RPCs from the start-up of every process! * mach, hurd: Cast through uintptr_tSergey Bugaev2023-02-121-4/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | When casting between a pointer and an integer of a different size, GCC emits a warning (which is escalated to a build failure by -Werror). Indeed, if what you start with is a pointer, which you then cast to a shorter integer and then back again, you're going to cut off some bits of the pointer. But if you start with an integer (such as mach_port_t), then cast it to a longer pointer (void *), and then back to a shorter integer, you are fine. To keep GCC happy, cast through an intermediary uintptr_t, which is always the same size as a pointer. | | | | | When linking programs statically, stack_chk_fail_local already comes from libc_nonshared, so we don't need it in lib{mach,hurd}user.a.

* hurd: break relocation loop between libc.so and lib{mach,hurd}user.soSamuel Thibault2020-11-144-15/+32
| | | | | | | | | | | | | See https://sourceware.org/pipermail/libc-alpha/2020-November/119575.html lib{mach,hurd}user.so gets relocated before libc.so, but its references to strpcpy and memcpy would need an ifunc decision, which e.g. on x86 relies on cpu_features, but libc.so's _rtld_global_ro is not relocated yet. We can however just make lib{mach,hurd}user.so only call non-ifunc functions, which can be relocated before libc.so is relocated.

* Break some lines before not after operators.Joseph Myers2019-02-221-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The GNU Coding Standards specify that line breaks in expressions should go before an operator, not after one. This patch fixes various code to do this. It only changes code that appears to be mostly following GNU style anyway, not files and directories with substantially different formatting. It is not exhaustive even for files using GNU style (for example, changes to sysdeps files are deferred for subsequent cleanups). Some files changed are shared with gnulib, but most are specific to glibc. Changes were made manually, with places to change found by grep (so some cases, e.g. where the operator was followed by a comment at end of line, are particularly liable to have been missed by grep, but I did include cases where the operator was followed by backslash-newline). This patch generally does not attempt to address other coding style issues in the expressions changed (for example, missing spaces before '(', or lack of parentheses to ensure indentation of continuation lines properly reflects operator precedence).
