| | | | | | | | | | | | | An input BIG5-HKSCS character may be converted into at most 2 wchar_t characters. After outputting the second whcar_t character (which was saved in the converter state) we must reset the state. If we fail to reset the state we will be stuck continually copying that character to the output even if we have further input to consider. It then occurred to me that the remaining declarations in libc-internal.h are mostly to do with early initialization, and probably most of the files including it, even in the core code, don't need it anymore. Indeed, only 19 files actually need what remains of libc-internal.h. 23 others need libc-diag.h instead, and 12 need libc-pointer-arith.h instead. No file needs more than one of them, and 16 don't need any of them! So, with this patch, libc-internal.h stops including libc-diag.h as well as losing the pointer arithmetic macros, and all including files are adjusted. * include/libc-pointer-arith.h: New file. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch increases timeouts on some tests I've observed timing out. elf/tst-tls13 and iconvdata/tst-loading both dynamically load many objects and so are slow when testing over NFS. They had timeouts set from before the default changed from 2 to 20 seconds; this patch removes those old settings, so effectively increasing the timeout to 20 seconds (from 3 and 10 seconds respectively). malloc/tst-malloc-thread-fail.c and malloc/tst-mallocfork2.c are slow on slow systems and so I set a fairly arbitrary 100 second timeout, which seems to suffice on the system where I saw them timing out. nss/tst-cancel-getpwuid_r.c and nss/tst-nss-getpwent.c are slow on systems with a large passwd file; I set timeouts that empirically worked for me. See https://sourceware.org/ml/libc-help/2015-12/msg00015.html. Thus this patch fixes this behaviour for converting from utf32 to internal and from internal to utf8. Furthermore the conversion from utf16 to internal does not report an error if the input-stream consists of two low-surrogate values. If an uint16_t value is in the range of 0xd800 .. 0xdfff, the next uint16_t value is checked, if it is in the range of a low surrogate (0xdc00 .. 0xdfff). Afterwards these two uint16_t values are interpreted as a high- and low-surrogates pair. But there is no test if the first uint16_t value is really in the range of a high-surrogate (0xd800 .. 0xdbff). If there would be two uint16_t values in the range of a low surrogate, then they will be treated as a valid high- and low-surrogates pair. This patch adds this test. This patch also adds a new testcase, which checks UTF conversions with input values in range of UTF16 surrogates. The test converts from UTF-xx to INTERNAL, INTERNAL to UTF-xx and directly between UTF-xx to UTF-yy. The latter conversion is needed because s390 has iconv-modules, which converts from/to UTF in one step. The new testcase was tested on a s390, power and intel machine. Before this patch, the gconv-modules file was normally installed from src-dir/iconvdata/gconv-modules. The S390 Makefile had overridden the installation recipe (with a make warning) in order to install the gconv-module-s390 file from build-dir. The iconvdata/Makefile provides another recipe, which copies the gconv-modules file from src to build dir, which are used by the testcases. Thus the testcases does not use the currently build s390-modules. This patch uses build-dir/iconvdata/gconv-modules for installation, which is generated by concatenating src-dir/iconvdata/gconv-modules and the architecture specific one. The latter one can be specified by setting the variable sysdeps-gconv-modules in sysdeps/.../Makefile. The architecture specific gconv-modules file is emitted before the common one because these modules aren't used in all possible conversions. E.g. the converting from INTERNAL to UTF-16 used the common UTF-16.so module instead of UTF16_UTF32_Z9.so. This way, the s390-Makefile does not need to override the recipe for gconv-modules and no warning is emitted anymore. Since we no longer support empty objpfx the conditional test in iconvdata/Makefile is removed. One wart in the original support for test wrappers for cross testing, as noted in <https://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2012-10/msg00722.html>, is the requirement for test wrappers to pass a poorly-defined set of environment variables from the build system to the system running the glibc under test. Although some variables are passed explicitly via $(test-wrapper-env), including LD_* variables that simply can't be passed implicitly because of the side effects they'd have on the build system's dynamic linker, others are passed implicitly, including variables such as GCONV_PATH and LOCPATH that could potentially affect the build system's libc (so effectively relying on any such effects not breaking the wrappers). In addition, the code in cross-test-ssh.sh for preserving environment variables is fragile (it depends on how bash formats a list of exported variables, and could well break for multi-line variable definitions where the contents contain things looking like other variable definitions). This patch moves to explicitly passing environment variables via $(test-wrapper-env). Makefile variables that previously used $(test-wrapper) are split up into -before-env and -after-env parts that can be passed separately to the various .sh files used in testing, so those files can then insert environment settings between the two parts. The common default environment settings in make-test-out are made into a separate makefile variable that can also be passed to scripts, rather than many scripts duplicating those settings (for testing an installed glibc, it is desirable to have the GCONV_PATH setting on just one place, so just that one place needs to support it pointing to an installed sysroot instead of the build tree). The default settings are included in the variables such as $(test-program-prefix), so that if tests do not need any non-default settings they can continue to use single variables rather than the split-up variables. Although this patch cleans up LC_ALL=C settings (that being part of the common defaults), various LANG=C and LANGUAGE=C settings remain. Those are generally unnecessary and I propose a subsequent cleanup to remove them. LC_ALL takes precedence over LANG, and while LANGUAGE takes precedence over LC_ALL, it only does so for settings other than LC_ALL=C. So LC_ALL=C on its own is sufficient to ensure the C locale, and anything that gets LC_ALL=C does not need the other settings. While preparing this patch I noticed some tests with .sh files that appeared to do nothing beyond what the generic makefile support for tests can do (localedata/tst-wctype.sh - the makefiles support -ENV variables and .input files - and localedata/tst-mbswcs.sh - just runs five tests that could be run individually from the makefile). So I propose another subsequent cleanup to move those to using the generic support instead of special .sh files. This patch moves LOCPATH into the default environment used for all tests, on the principle that like GCONV_PATH any settings needed to use files associated with the newly built library, rather than any old installed files, are appropriate to use by default. A further motivation is that various tests using .sh files also set some combination of LC_ALL, GCONV_PATH and LOCPATH. Preferably .sh files should also use the default environment with any additions required for the individual test. Now, it was suggested in <https://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2014-05/msg00715.html> that various Makefile variables used in testing should be derived by composing the -before-env and -after-env variables used when explicit environment settings are required. With such a change, it's also natural for those variables to include the default settings (via some intermediate makefile variable also used in make-test-out). In the case of the iconv test test-iconvconfig, output is redirected where it wasn't before. In various places the "generated" variable is updated to reflect the revised test names; in iconvdata/Makefile a typo (mmtrace-tst-loading) is also fixed. resolv/Makefile sets both "generate" (which appears unused) and "generated". Bitrot in the settings of these variables could no doubt be fixed so that "make clean" after build and testing leaves results the same as after configure (and indeed the tests-special / xtests-special variables could be used to simplify things, by removing those files automatically rather than listing them manually in these variables), and "make distclean" leaves an empty build directory, but right now it appears various files don't get deleted. I think they are liable to continue to bitrot in the absence of routine testing that these targets actually work, given that building in the source directory isn't supported and that was the main use of such makefile targets.
